NASA in North Dakota Day

The North Dakota Space Grant Consortium recently sponsored "NASA in North Dakota Day" at the State Capitol in Bismarck.

Eberhardt is a sophomore at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton where she is majoring in Physics with a minor in Astronomy. She is an honor student who plans to become a high school physics teacher.
She is North Dakota's NASA International Year of Astronomy Student Ambassador.

In 1990 the state of North Dakota received a Space Grant
College Capability Enhancement Grant from NASA. The North
Dakota Space Grant Consortium has its headquarters at the
Department of Space Studies at the John
D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the
University of North Dakota.
Mission:
The North Dakota Space Grant Program has continued
its well-regarded foci in internet-delivered higher education,
education financial assistance all across North Dakota (especially
to women and minority students), involvement of tribal colleges,
and public outreach activities. This has been done to help
achieve the primary goal of NDSGC which is making the education
infrastructure in North Dakota more NASA-relevant. >>

02-26-09 -The ND Space Grant Consortium will be hosting a first-ever series of space exploration workshops that will be held during the weeks of June 7 and June 14, 2009. These two-day workshops, which will be held in Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck, and Dickinson, are designed to provide K-12 teachers will fundamental knowledge across a range of space disciplines.
The goal is to encourage teachers to incorporate this new knowledge into their own courses.
Faculty from the University of North Dakota Department of Space Studies will be educating teachers on topics such as the fundamentals of rocket and satellite operation, designing a spacecraft mission, human physiological and psychological factors in spaceflight, orbital mechanics, and the geology and physics of meteorites, asteroids, and the Sun.
Participants will conduct a group project each day of the workshop to begin utilizing their skills. Teachers will earn one graduate credit upon completion of the workshop. ND Space Grant will also provide a $100 stipend to all participants. To register for the workshop, please go to the following website:
